The body of a 29-year-old man who went missing while boating on Lake Tahoe in August was found Saturday at 1,565 feet — the deepest recovery ever recorded in the U.S.
Bruce’s Legacy, a nonprofit organization that specializes in underwater body recovery, and its founder Keith Cormican, were recruited by the family of Ryan Normoyle after several days of searching with no results.
The recovery at Lake Tahoe, the second-deepest lake in the U.S. and fourth-deepest in North America with a maximum depth of 1,645 feet, was the deepest in American history, Cormican said.
The previous deepest recovery in Lake Tahoe was Sept. 17, 2018, when the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office marine unit recovered a body from 1,062 feet below.Read USA Today
