“In October of 2011, Georgios-Ioannis Tsianos swam continuously from the southern edge of Greece’s mainland, the Peloponnese, to the shores of the island of Crete, and covered a distance of 101km. He is the first swimmer in history to have attempted such a feat in the open Aegean Sea, while further, only a handful of swimmers worldwide have completed such distance at open sea in a single attempt. A medical doctor by profession, Georgios, through his swim, supported the charitable organization “Orizodas” from Chania in Crete, a local organization which provides support and looks after children and adults battling cancer. This short video is a compilation of edited amateur footage taken during his swim by his team members. Edited by Dimitris Giouzepas”
