A middle-school-aged girl is being credited for rescuing a woman and her 3-year-old child who fell into the deep end of an apartment pool and began struggling.

“I had 3-year-old Alexis in my arms. I slipped where the pool goes from five to 10 feet. I tossed my child to another person and they started to go under because I can’t swim,” said the rescued mom, Alaine Mitchell.
