An 11-year-old boy who was the victim of a senseless tragedy, will be honored by his swim team this weekend.

His swim team with take part in a 12-hour swimming marathon to honor the little boy’s life that was taken too soon. Eleven-year-old Stefan Zuniga was shot and killed by his father Carlos Zuniga last month in their Miami home. Carlos also shot his wife and sister, but they survived. Carlos then took his own life.

Stefan’s friends have been trying to cope with the loss of their friend ever since. “They really need help, and we should really help them, especially at this time when they need it the most,” said friend Agustina Iglesias.

Stefan’s friends are honoring him with something he loved doing the most. Swim coach Alexander Urbizagastegui wants the children to remember not only Stefan, but also the children’s killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. “I knew that I had to do something where I emphasize that school is safe and home is safe in order for them to continue living a normal life,” said Urbizagastegui.
