Pál and Frans in the 400 meter freestyle Szczecin 2011 final this evening
Our guy Pál Joensen cruised to a 3:42.37 ‘textile best’ and 3rd spot in the 400 meter European final, here in Szczecin, behind Denmark’s Mads Glæsner in 3:41.71 and Germany’s Paul Biedermann in 3:42.18. And another full-blood Faroese was 10th in 3:44.68, Frans Johannesen whose parents are from Faroe Islands, but who swims for Denmark…

European Duel in the Pool roster released
USA Swimming has today released the European Duel in the Pool roster, including 41 top swimmers from Hungary, Great Britain, Poland, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Lithuania, Sweden, Netherlands, Slovenia, Ireland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and tiny Faroe Islands. 2-year-old boy survives 30 minutes underwater (!)
Not even in ice-cold water, but in the family pool. And he is already bicycling again, saved by the doctors putting him into ‘therapeutic hypothermia‘, where your body is cooled down to almost hibernation, and then slowly brought back to life again.
