FINA is pleased to announce that Budapest, Hungary, will host the 17th FINA World Championships and FINA World Masters Championships in July 2017, replacing the city of Guadalajara (MEX).
On this important occasion, FINA would like to thank the Hungarian Prime-Minister Viktor Orban and the President of the Hungarian Swimming Federation Tamas Gyarfas for their support and contribution to the organisation of FINA’s major event in 2017.
FINA would also like to express its gratitude and appreciation to other National Federations/Cities that had shown their interest in staging these Championships.
“We are very happy to be in Budapest in 2017 and we are sure that the local authorities and organisers will host a great competition. Hungary is a country of Sport and true passion for Aquatics – the FINA World Championships and FINA World Masters Championships in two years’ time will consolidate and reinforce this tradition”, declared the FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione.
Budapest had been previously awarded the right to host the 2021 FINA World Championships and FINA World Masters Championships and a new bidding procedure will now be open for these events.
