Germany’s Paul Biedermann became the first man under 1:41 in the 200 short course meter freestyle, swimming 1:40.83 where Ian Thorpe’s world record was 1:41.10. USA’s Randall Bal became the first man under 23 seconds in the 50 backstroke, swimming 20.87 where Peter Marshall’s world record from earlier this week was 23.05. And Australia’s Marieke Guehrer became the first woman under 25 seconds in the 50 butterfly, swimming 24.99 where Therese Alshammars world record from earlier this week was 25.31.

USA’s Peter Marshall did it again, at the 2008 FINA World Cup event in Berlin today, setting a new 100 meter backstroke short course world record with a time of 49.63, where his record from earlier this week was 49.94. Read SwimInfo.
American Peter Marshall set his 2nd world record in two days, beating Bal’s 23.07 and Hurley’s 23.36 with a time of 23.05 in the 50 meter short course backstroke, where Hurley’s world record was 23.24. South African Cameron van der Burgh swam an incredible 50 meter breaststroke, becoming the first man ever under 26 seconds, with the new world record of 25.94.
