Pellegrini, Payne, Lurz and Alex are the 2011 LEN swimmers of the year
The European Swimming Federation LEN today announced the 2011 Len Athletes of the Year, elected by representatives of the 51 LEN Member Federations as well as aquatic journalists from all over Europe. In the pool swimming category, the men’s award was decided by a margin of very few votes in favour of Norway’s Alexander Dale Oen, while Italy’s Federica Pellegrini easily won the women’s award. In the open water swimming category, Germany’s Thomas Lurz won as easily the men’s award, and Great Britain’s Keri-Anne Payne the women’s award. Nyad hasn’t given up: “I will swim from Cuba to Florida”
Kudos to Diana Nyad:
“I can swim from Cuba to Florida, and I will swim from Cuba to Florida,” she said at the TEDMED conference in Coronado, California. Nyad received a standing ovation after her inspirational presentation.
Since this is was at a TEDMED conference, I’m sure we’ll have a video soon. While we wait, let’s watch an old Apple ad with the late Steve Jobs himself as narrator.

FINIS® today announces the availability of Stroke Lab, under the slogan “Video Stroke Analysis, Made Easy”. This web application allows you to upload and distribute your videos online, and has a video editor that allows coaches to slow down the video, make audio or text comments to them, and use various drawing tools to illustrate whatever.
