Swimming is a life skill that brings many well-being benefits but is inaccessible to many. Over half of the world’s population cannot swim and women account for most of them. Even in Hong Kong, where we are incredibly well-resourced with over 40 public swimming pools across the region and accessible coastlines, 47% of secondary school students are swim-illiterate.

By connecting those who can swim with those who want to learn, Splash empowers people with water safety skills and a lifetime of swimming. A network of over 150 professional and volunteer coaches teach the Splash Learn to Swim curriculum, offering absolute beginners 20 hours of swim instruction.

Since 2015, we’ve taught over 6000 children and adults to swim. Our programs see:

  • High engagement with an average 90% completion rate
  • Successful results with 81% of participants able to demonstrate benchmark skills independently at assessment
  • Dramatic improvement in physical, mental and social well-being, obtained through end-of-programme surveys
