Happy #MidwintersDay to our 86 hardy expeditioners spending the year at Australia’s four research stations! Swimming doesn’t usually happen down south, but it’s an important tradition at this time of year. At Casey research station in east #Antarctica, they braved the #winter #solstice with a sub-zero swim through a hole cut in the sea-ice. On sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island, the team dashed coast-to-coast across the island for a dip in the chilly surf.
