Mohammad Shams Aalam was rendered paralyzed chest below after a failed surgery in his early 20s. Brakes were pressed on his dreams to be a karate champion. But then, like his mother said, when one door closes, another opens, and Shams Aalam channeled his energy into swimming. Since then he has picked up awards and medals representing India in many international games besides playing in domestic championships. This is his story.
