A new survey commissioned by Swim Australia, the peak body for swimming instructors, shows Australian children – maybe as many as half – are not attending swimming lessons this year. The parents say it is too expensive and there is some COVID-related reluctance. And it is not just the children who can’t swim. According to Brendon Ward, the CEO of Swim Australia, over half the parents surveyed said they had only basic or poor swimming skills themselves.
