Triathlete Isidro Benavent has converted a skip container into a makeshift swimming pool to train with during the COVID-19 lockdown, as footage filmed in his house in Rotova on Saturday shows.

Benavent borrowed a container from the company he works for and installed it in his garage, implementing up all the necessary adjustments to be able to use it as a training pool.

“A truck can’t fit in here. I had to put four round beams under the construction container, and I did like the ancient Egyptians, pushing from the back until it entered,” said the athlete.

“Then I installed the treatment device to have the water like a swimming pool, purified, with its stairs with its chlorine… So that it keeps the water clean for as long as it takes,” added Benavent.

Despite the small size of the container, Benavent uses rubber bands tied to the ankles “so I can swim non-stop, practising the technique, and I do not move forward. And I am all the time swimming, as if I was swimming in the sea or in a proper pool,” he stated.
