The Big Bala Swim was on June 1st, 2019 in Llyn Tegid, Bala, in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. There was a choice of three swim distances: 1.5km, 4.5km and 9km. The 4.5km swimmers catch the historical narrow-gauge steam train to the start of the 4.5km swim. There were wetsuit and non-wetsuit swimmers.

Llyn Tegid is the largest lake in Wales and is surrounded by the Aran, Arenig and Berwyn mountain ranges which have 51 peaks over 2000 ft (610 metres) high.

The date for the 2020 event is 1st June – definitely one for the diary.
