The 30-year-old Michael Phelps has some wrinkles, some battle scars. But he also has a lightness in his eyes, a softness in his voice and smile, a serene comportment that was rarely seen, and barely existed, while becoming the most decorated Olympian in history. Sitting with me in the Arizona State swimming offices Tuesday morning, the changed man crosses his legs, folds his hands, gazes out the window at the blue sky and dares let the world know him beyond the 22 Olympic medals and 18 golds.
