Long-distance swimmer Jim Dreyer plans to swim 22 miles across Lake St. Clair this summer while hauling dinghies filled with 2,000 pounds of bricks. He has made direct crossing of each of the five Great Lakes, and is scheduled to begin this one on August 5, to raise funds and awareness for Habitat for Humanity. The swim is expected to take 30 hours, you can support by buying bricks here on jimthesharkdreyer.com.

“It will be a real ‘train of pain,’ symbolic of the pain felt by Michigan families trying to keep their heads above water,” Dreyer told The Grand Rapids Press. “However, instead of sinking with the weight of our burdens, I believe that together we can triumph and be the bricks that rebuild lives, rebuild communities, and strengthen the foundation of this great state.”
