Just four dips in the pool since the London Olympics have convinced Stephanie Rice she should make a swimming comeback.

But the triple Olympic champion aims to return as a sprinter – not the middle distance darling of the pool who became a household name.

Rice confirmed on Saturday she had the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in her sights after an encouraging recovery from shoulder surgery since announcing a post-London 12-month sabbatical.

“I’ve done four swims since the Olympics but I have done a lot of gym and tested my shoulder and it is really strong,” Rice said as a guest at the national swimming titles in Adelaide.
