Look up the term “fighting spirit” in the dictionary, and you might very well see a picture of American swimmer Nathan Adrian.

The eight-time Olympic medalist — five of those being gold medals — was diagnosed with testicular cancer in early 2019, at age 30, when he was preparing for the 2020 Summer Olympics.

But Adrian refused to let a cancer diagnosis stop him from pursuing his dream. He continued to train, even through treatment, and never gave up on his fight to win.
