After 26 years at Stockport Metro, Sean Kelly will be leaving England to take over as National Performance Director of Spain. Kelly’s resume includes three Olympic medalists (Keri-Anne Payne, Cassie Patten, and Steve Parry) and thirteen finalists. He has coached five World Championship medalists, nine European medalists, seventeen Commonwealth medalists, in addition to over 100 British and national records. Originally from Ireland, Sean has received the British Swimming Coach Association (BSCA) Coach of the Year award three times. “Working in Spain is a dream come true and an opportunity that comes at a perfect time for me,” Kelly said. “I leave a successful team in the UK and I would like to do the same here.” “I hope to bring a vision and a culture of success where everyone’s expectations are raised.”Sean was kind enough to share his thoughts with us as he prepares to leave for Spain.
