Nature throws plenty of challenges at ocean swimmers, but sharks rarely concern Paul Ellercamp.

“Most sharks are not a problem,” he said. “They’re graceful creatures, generally quite inoffensive and unthreatening, often curious, and when you do see them, often quite stimulating.”

An avid ocean swimmer, Mr Ellercamp said he had encountered a few sharks during his years of ocean swimming: “They’re really not that interested in us. They’re busy looking for fish.”
