Another major step in the preparations for the 2017 LEN European Short-Course Swimming Championships to begin in a week: the competition pool has been filled with water in the Royal Arena in Copenhagen.

More than 2 million litres of water have been filled to the two pools set up by MyrthaPools in Copenhagen (the competition pool and the warm-up pool). In a week, a meet featuring 548 athletes will start in the brand new, state-of-the-art facility in the Danish capital on the occasion of the first sport event held here.

According to the entries, 46 nations send their swimmers to the year-ending showcase. Host Denmark will have the largest team (38), Italy (36), Hungary (32) and Russia (31) also take part with huge 30+ member strong squads.

The short-course Europeans will take place on 13-17 December, 40 titles are up for grabs. LEN offers € 220,000 in prize money and beyond that record bonuses too for the first time, € 10,000 for the individual World Records and € 5,000 for the individual European Records.

The Short Course Europeans will be organised by LEN (European Swimming Federation) and the Danish Swimming Federation in co-operation with their partners Sport Event Denmark and the City of Copenhagen.
