Women’s 50 freestyle
Ranomi Kromowidjojo in the lead, 23.97 to Sarah Sjostrom’s 24.13 and Rozaliya Nasretdinova’s in 24.17. Local favorite definitely Pernille Blume in 24.57 and 9th.
Men’s 50 butterfly
Ukraine’s Andriy Govorov tops the list in 22.50, Russia’s Nikita Konovalov second in 22.77 and Germany’s Steffen Deibler in 22.79.
Women’s 400 individual medley
Spain’s Mireia Belmonte the clear favorite to take yet another gold here in Herning, with a time of 4:27.20 ahead of Katinka Hosszu from Hungary in 4:31.27 and Great Britain’s Hannah Miley in 4:33.31.
Men’s 200 breaststroke
Germany’s Marco Koch clocked the quickest preliminary time of 2:04.48, Great Britain’s Andrew Willis and Michael Jamieson second and third in 2:05.06 and 2:05.19 respectively. But keep an eye on fourth placed Daniel Gyurta also.
Women’s 200 freestyle
Hungary’s Evelyn Verraszto the fastest in 1:54.60 and French swimmer Charlotte Bonnet second in 1:54.89, but home crowd favorite definitely Mie Ø. Nielsen who with a time of 1:55.04 improved upon her own Danish record of 1:55.07 from October.
Men’s 200 freestyle
Russia’s Daniil Izotov leads the field in 1:42.54, Hungary’s Dominik Kozma second in 1:43.35 and winner of the double distance Nikita Lobintsev from Russia third in 1:43.61.
Women’s 200 backstroke
Ukraine’s Daryna Zevina the clear favorite in 2:04.06, Germany’s Jenny Mensing second in 2:05.47 and Russia’s Daria Ustinova third in 2:06.62.
Men’s 4×50 freestyle
Belgium the surprise leader of the board, with a world record breaking time of 1:25.52, the European and championships record though still way faster in 1:20.77. Italy second in 1:25.89 and Russia third in 1:26.21.
Women’s 4×50 medley
Promising a great finale at these championships, Denmark leads the field in a new world record breaking time of 1:45.92, the European and championships record of the Netherlands at 1:42.69. Czech Republic second in 1:47.48 and Poland third in 1:47.48.
