Nothing really spectacular in the morning heats, I guess the Danes will have to put their hopes on Mads Glæsner in the 1500 and Mie Ø. Nielsen this afternoon, if they are to close in on their goal of at least 11 gold medals at these home championships. Me myself am of course crossing fingers for our guy Pál Joensen in the 1500 final.
Women’s 50 backstroke
New 100 backstroke European champion and record holder Mie Ø. Nielsen clocked the fastest time of 26.76, a new Danish record, the 26.62 Nordic record of Therese Alshammar very possibly under threat tonight. Czech swimmer Simona Baumrtova was second in 27.14 and Poland’s Aleksandra Urbanczyk third in 27.16. Result list here.

Turkey’s Demir Atasoy the surprise leader of the field in 26.67, French swimmer Giacomo Perez Dortona second in 26.71 and Swedenøs Johannes Skagius third in 26.73, my money still on Slovenia’s Damir Dugonjic in 26.75 and fourth. Result list here.
