“For 8 years I have been trying to get good footage of the Annual Coney Island New Year’s Day Polar Bear Swim. The first year, the videographer pressed the wrong button. The next year, our videographer shot us going in the water and then pointed the camera at the ground for the next 10 minutes. The year after that, I decided to shoot it myself. A wave knocked me over and I went down with my camera… the salt water corrosion was so bad I was not able to retrieve the tape without ruining it. Last year was ok, but it the footage was too jumpy because I hopped up and down to stay warm. This year I built a stabilizer and you can view the results here. It’s not perfect, but I’m getting there.”
