Warning to all wedding photographers, a newly married Montreal-area women drowned this past Friday during a ‘trash the dress’ photo shoot in the Ouareau River. The 30-year-old woman stepped into water that was neither deep nor fast-flowing. However, her wedding dress soaked up the river water, making it extremely heavy. She then slipped on the rocks and was carried away by the river, a volunteer scuba diver later locating her body at the bottom of a stagnant pool of water about 100 feet away where the shoot was taking place. The photographer and a passerby even tried to help her, but weren’t able to lift her out of the water, simply because her dress was so heavy. Read The Montreal Gazette via PetaPixel

  1. This is definitely scary. It reminded me of two stories, one with the family about 20 feet away from the edge of the cliff when a large amount of water swept them away and another one when a couple wanted to take a photo near the edge of the mountain, tripped and fell. This is so sad. My heart goes to her family and husband.

  2. I am really sad to know it.. This really scared me. I think this post should be spread to every photographer and would be brides to take proper care while having their wedding shoot near lake or beaches..
