The Faroe Islands won most medals at the Ã…land 2009 NatWest Island Games, in swimming the second time in a row, and for all sports the first time ever. The Faroe Islands won a total of 34 gold medals, 23 silver and 24 bronze medals in the 14 different sports, whereof the swimmers won 21 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze. Pál won gold in all 5 freestyle events, in the 50 butterfly and 200 breaststroke, silver in the 50 breaststroke, 100, 200 and 400 IM, and bronze in the 100 breaststroke and 200 butterfly. And was part of the relays winning gold in the 4×50 medley, and silver in the 4×100 medley and 4×100 freestyle. A total of 8 gold medals, 6 silver and 2 bronze. See result lists here.
