Advanced Bionics announced yesterday that they have received approval in the US and Canada for Neptune, the world’s first and only swimmable, waterproof sound processor. Designed to help cochlear implant recipients hear in and out of the water, it can be worn anywhere and way they choose, such as in the hair, on an arm, under a collar, or in a pocket. Parents will appreciate features like the removable controls that make it tamper-proof, and of course that their children now can be able to hear safety instructions, and enjoy the pleasure of hearing in general what happens in and around the pool or bath. Technology behind cochlear implants never ceases to amaze me! Our son has cochlear implants and swimming has been a real challenge. This looks amazing!
