The Danish Open 2011 start list is ready, promising quite a few high quality races, especially in the long distance events. In the women’s 1500 freestyle, we have Norway’s Elin Slaatmo trying to take on European champion and World silver medalist Lotte Friis, and in the men’s 1500 freestyle, Faroe Islands’ European silver medalist Pál Joensen will have yet another bout with Denmark’s World short course silver medalist Mads Glæsner.

In the 800 freestyle, World champion Lotte Friis will reign supreme, and in the 800 similarly Mads Glæsner. 400 and 200 free are closer but still in favour of Friis and Glæsner, and then we have European silver medalist Jeanette Ottesen in the 50 butterfly. The Danish Open is approved by FINA as a Shanghai 2011 qualification meet, and is the danish qualification meet for international meets this summer, which should guarantee quite a few good performances, even in events where the competition isn’t so tight.

The Danish Open 2011 runs from March 31st to April 3rd, at the Bellahøj swim stadion in Copenhagen.
