USA’s Ryan Lochte set a new 200 individual medley world record, with a time of 1:54.10 where Phelps’ world record from Beijing was 1:54.23. Canadian Annamay Pierse set a new world record in the 200 breaststroke semifinal, swimming 2:20.12 where Rebecca Soni’s world record was 2:20.22. Brazil’s Cesar Cielo Filho became first man under 47 second in the 100 freestyle, clocking 46.91 seconds where the world record of Eamon Sullivan was 47.05. Australia’s Jessicah Schipper beat the 2:04.14 world record of Mary Descenza from yesterday, with a time of 2:03.41. Australia’s Christian Sprenger beat Kosuke Kitajima’s 200 breaststroke world record, with a time of 2:07.31 where Kitajima’s world record was 2:07.51. China’s Jing Zhao set a new 50 backstroke world record, with a time of 27.06 where Anastasia Zueva’s world record from the semifinal was 27.38. And finally, the Chinese women set a new 4×200 freestyle world record, with a time of 7:42.08 where Australia’s world record was 7:44.31.
