Michael Phelps in hot water with IOC over leaked Louis Vuitton photos

Michael Phelps’ new Louis Vuitton ads may land him in some hot water, due to IOC’s regulations about promoting non-Olympic sponsors. Photos of Phelps taken by Annie Leibovitz were leaked online August 13, violating the International Olympic Committee’s controversial Rule 40 that bars athletes from promoting non-Olympic sponsors from July 18 through August 15. Punishments range from fines to a stripping of medals, but it is highly doubtful that Phelps will loose his record-breaking medal haul, as the campaign was supposed to begin in compliance with the rule on August 16, and as it is unclear who leaked the photos.
